Before installing solar panels at our premises or at an organization, we must have to meet the following requirements.
Research of the house or organization
Now before installing solar panels at your premises, you must first research what type of solar systems is to be needed at your home. Various types of solar systems are available in the market depending on the use.
a) Grid connected
This is the most common used solar system. In this, the inverter converts the electricity which is produced by solar panels ie. DC (Direct Current) into AC (Alternating Current). This power produced is compatible with the grid. The houses which have such connection, uses initially solar power before sourcing electricity.
b) Grid connection with battery backup
This is the same as that of the previous one except it includes a battery backup with it. This battery backup is utilized at the time when power gets interrupted. These systems are getting more popular these days. In this, the system stores the energy to utilize it at night time.
Cost required installing solar panel
The pricing of installation of solar systems at your premises includes various factors such as government incentives and support, contractor installation cost, types and number of panels used, etc. This results price varying from $3000 to $11500 for 1.5 kW to 5 kW systems respectively.
Contact the solar system retailer
Before installing solar panels at your premises check various feed in tariff rates that is to be provided in return to your electricity tariff rates. A feed in tariff rate defines the amount that is to paid to the owner in return to exported electricity. The exported electricity means the electricity produced by the panel is first used at the home and if any extra remains is exported. The feed in tariff rates differ from place to place. Some state government provides good feed in tariff rates. So it’s better to contact the solar retailer which gives better feed in tariff rates in the area. Now this feed in tariff rates are available only to the solar panels with maximum size.
Size and types of PV modules or inverter to be bought
Depending on the use of solar energy decides the size of the solar panel. Also self consumption is most beneficial rather than exporting your power to the grid.
Various factors and criteria are listed in different countries to meet the PV module and inverter standards. Each PV module and inverter should pass those criteria.
Documentation with the retailer and installation and connection to the grid.
After selecting the PV module and inverter it’s time for the documentation work. This includes signing contract with the retailer. The documentation that is to be signed should be checked thoroughly and it should every points that is been discussed. While documentation you must receive various lists of equipments, emergency shutdown procedure, PV array frame certificate.
Installation and connection to the grid.
After signing the contract it’s time for installation of PV module. After installing the PV module get the connection to the grid. Now connecting to the grid include various parameters such as making application to connect to the system prior to installation and meter change or configuring it. Meter change/configuration is required in such a way that import/export of power is done through it.
Now after installation, documentation and connection the grid it is necessary to maintain the PV modules and recycle and upgrade it from time to time.
