Solar panels promise to lower your electricity bill by supplementing the energy you buy from the local power company. 1. Get solar cells –

2. Make the shallow panel box for the cells –
make a shallow box of 3/8 inch thick plywood with 3/4 X 3/4 pieces of wood around the edges. The pieces are glued and screwed in place. It should hold any number of solar cells you have. You should also paint it and drill holes in it so that wires can pass through them easily. It should be large enough to fit the pegboard which will contain the solar cells.
3. Solder the cells –
Start with just two cells first and place them upside-down. Make sure the spacing between the cells match the grid pattern on the pegboard. The soldering iron should not be too strong and use fine rosen-pen for solder. While using the soldering iron be careful not to use too much of strength as it may break the cells. Each cells negative top is soldered to the positive bottom of the next cell which helps to connect the cells in series, and adds their voltages. You continue to do this until you have a string of at least 6 cells. Now glue the cells to the pegboard. Then put the solar panel in the main shallow box and screw it up nicely and wire it.
4. Connect it to a battery and inverter –
you need to get a diode to prevent losing charge from your panels at night and on cloudy days. You can also add a polarized two-pin joins plug to the end of the panel wires. Another plug will be wired into the inverter so that the solar panel can get its power production and battery charging capacity right. Now everything is almost done and you just need to cover the whole thing with plexi glass and mount it wherever you want to.
